How to Enhance the Social Communication Skills of Students with Autism/Asperger Syndrome

As students with Autism or Asperger Syndrome have problems with social interaction and communication, teachers often find it challenging to help them integrate in the school life, get along with their schoolmates and learn effectively with their peers during lessons. In this QEF dissemination activity, there will be sharing on how to improve the social cognitive skills of students with Autism or Asperger Syndrome. The project team will introduce the social thinking concepts, the ILAUGH model (Initiation, Listening, Abstracting information, Understanding perspectives, Getting the whole picture and Humour appreciation) as well as the school-based social thinking strategies and activities.
