The Quality Education Fund (QEF) Steering Committee has established a task group on Outstanding Teacher and School Awards (OTSA).
"The task group on OTSA will work out the details of the scheme which is one of the recommendations of the Education Commission Report No.7 to promote quality education," said Mr Irving Koo Yee-yin, Chairman of the QEF Steering Committee today (Wednesday).
"The Task Group will also advise the QEF Steering Committee on the overall policies, procedures and criteria on the award of outstanding teachers and schools in Hong Kong. The education sector will be consulted on the proposed nomination and selection procedures and criteria before they are finalised," Mr Koo noted.
The Awards will be funded by the QEF.
Chaired by Mr Koo, membership of the Task Group is drawn from a mix of academics, front-line teachers, school heads, representatives from the special education sector, members from parent-teacher association, and QEF Steering Committee members. The members are:

The Task Group reports to the QEF Steering Committee and its terms of reference are as follows:
"We hope the OTSA will provide an appropriate channel through which due recognition is given to teachers and schools with commendable performance based on a comprehensive set of equitable criteria," said Mr Koo.
