The following is issued on behalf of the Quality Education Fund Steering Committee:
The ninth call for Quality Education Fund (QEF) applications will commence today (November 1) and close at noon on December 31, 2005 for applications by post or in person, and on January 6, 2006 at 5 pm for applications by electronic means.
“Addressing Diverse Learning Needs”, “Enhancing Partnership with Schools’ Stakeholders” and “Aligning Assessment with Curriculum Reform” are designated as the priority themes for this call.
Mr Tai Hay-lap, Chairman of the QEF Steering Committee said, “To encourage and support innovative projects remains the primary objective of the QEF. Under the theme ‘Addressing Diverse Learning Needs’, schools may propose different modes and channels supporting students with special educational needs and students of ethnic minorities, etc.
“The other priority theme is to enhance partnership with schools’ stakeholders including parents, teachers, students, other schools, tertiary institutions, professionals and the community in promoting the quality of learning and teaching and developing students’ potentials,” Mr Tai added.
To encourage more education research to enhance the assessment processes, the QEF will continue to collaborate with the Research Grants Council in assessing research applications by tertiary institutions.
The QEF encourages submission of applications electronically through the website (http://qef.org.hk). Enquiries on QEF applications can be directed to the hotline 2921 8833.
Established in 1998, the QEF is open to all including schools, tertiary institutions, individuals, public bodies and non-government organisations for application.
