The Secretary for Education and Manpower, Mr Joseph W P Wong, today (Monday) announced the following appointments to the Quality Education Fund Steering Committee (QEFSC).
Mr Irving Koo Yee-yin, JP is re-appointed as Chairman for a term of one year with effect from January 16, 1999. He is a member of the Education Commission and Director of Jardine Pacific Group Ltd.
The following eight incumbent members are also re-appointed for a term of one year with effect from January 16, 1999:

An additional member, Professor Cheng Yin-cheong, Director of the Centre for Research and International Collaboration, Hong Kong Institute of Education, has been appointed for the period from November 16, 1998 to January 15, 2000.
The Deputy Director of Education and Deputy Secretary for Education and Manpower will continue to serve as members of the QEFSC, both in their ex-officio capacities.
The QEFSC established under the Education Commission advises the Government on the policies and procedures governing the operation of the Fund and makes recommendations on all funding applications to the Fund.
To assist the QEFSC in handling the increase in workload, an Assessment Sub-committee and a Promotion and Monitoring Sub-committee have been set up. The members of the two Sub-committees appointed in their personal capacities are:
